technology monitoring institute - the best brief ever!!!
We’re, to come right out with it, stalkers of technology. We’re not technologists but we’re technology
And we’re incurably curious. We follow closely on the heel of emerging information technologies—
Where do they go? What do they do there? Who do they meet? Who lets them in? Who shuts them
out? Why? Whose lives do they change? For better? For worse?Read Full Post »

After Vimeo came the MOOC (Massive Open Online Course).
Venture Lab of Stanford University, ran a ten week online course for a large amount of interested people such as mysel. We got taught on Designing Learning Environments using 21st century tools. Meeting weekly deadlines, forming groups to race to the final presentation date of our own concepts was exhilarating. Gempowered was the name of my team, made up of ladies from South Africa, Canada, Nigeria and Kenya.

Oi! Video is on my radar and more than dusting off my skills *cough* I had to reach deep and morph into learner mode!
Thats right back to school. And online is where its' at I found Vimeo Video School to be an excellent resource on DSLR Video techniques such as lighting, sound.... Dummy proof I tell you. Unlike those classes my folks paid an arm and a leg for.
What a relief to practise and explore independenty video 101.
Another boon of a resource isRead Full Post »

No, am not over reacting. It's been a bit since I got a brief that's supernova yummy. No offense to the clients I have been working with.
This brief is for a dj.
I have been a wannabe dj for a long time. To live my dream, I can brand it and acquire some fulfillment. Is what I am hoping for.
It's not going to be plain sailing. To differentiate this design from others is going to be t...Read Full Post »

Every so often a meme comes onto my radar that aptly perfectly describes a situation that I've experienced. In the BBC News article 'Do Typefaces Really Matter?' Canadian blogger Mike Batista uses the term - Font Paralysis in reference to unproductive redundant time creatives spend agonising over the right typeface for work when really, in the long run the audience really is unaffected by the choice.

Don't tell anyone but I entered a logo competition.
My motive...the prize money.
Not bad for some 10 hours of research, doodling, sketching, comping. I push other paying projects to the side telling myself 'you are a winner", and focus on this quick easy scheme. Somehow it's taking longer than I thought 10 hours becomes 20 hours, I so need to win for all the...Read Full Post »

Am chaffed about this. My good friend Esther has just sent me a link to a colour palette generator.
When landing a job, you check out the brief and immediately your creative mind goes into overdrive with ideas and then the implementation needs to happen and suddenly most annoyingly a brainfreeze happens. How to execute the creative thoughts. Colours can be an issue.
Like most designers, I think in terms of pictures, sm...Read Full Post »

urbane and sophistiunderstated (coined a new term!), it's the winning entry for Nairobi's techie hub. A location where young entrepreneurs, web and mobile phone programmers and designers can work. The dash at the end is a prompt for data entry ....? clever
